When in the 1930s their own SS cars were built, the company name was changed into SS cars Ltd. The factory constructed motorcycles and sidecars and later bodies based on the Austin Seven chassis. In 1922, William Lyons and William Walmsley laid the foundation of the firm in Blackpool, England, with the name of Swallow Coachbuilding Co. Though the Jaguar brand was first used in 1945, its factory had been founded long before.

Suspension: front independent, coil springs The absolute highlight was the invitation by the organisation of the Targa Florio (driven in southern Italia) to take part in this race in 1995. The presented C-type was built in 1990 and raced (inter) national historic races and rallys. The Proteus C-type was built under auspices of Jaguar Cars Ltd., and carries the original Jaguar badge. The Proteus C-Type model 1953 presented here is a very exact rebuilt of the Jaguar C-Type that won Le Mans in 1953. The Jaguar C-Type won in 19 the 24-hours Le Mans race, which immortalized the name of Jaguar.įor its technology, the C-Type was based on the XK 120, but the chassis/bodyshell was constructed of a steel space frame with thin aluminium bodypanels.
